President Askar Akayev dismissed on 16 October Prosecutor General Chubak Abyshkaev and appointed Myktybek Abdyldaev acting prosecutor general. Abdyldaev served before as head of the defense and security department in the presidential administration. No official reason of the dismissal was announced.
