A TRIAL AGAINST PRIME MINISTER BEGINS.


A trial against Prime Minister Nikolai Tanaev began at the Pervomai district court of Bishkek on 12 November and it was postponed after a short meeting till 22 November. Plaintiff is Chairman of the Human Rights Movement of Kyrgyzstan Tursunbek Akunov who expressed non-confidence to the court on 12 November and left the court. He accuses Tanaev of insulting him and demands Tanaev to pay one million soms (about $22,000) in compensation and to ask his pardon publicly.

According to Akunov, Tanaev said on 9 September publicly that there are always turmoil and bloodshed everywhere where Akunov comes and it happens due to Akunov receives money from some organizations abroad. Akunov presented the court on 12 November several documents that he had not received any money from any foreign organizations for activity of his movement. Judge Madina Davletbaeva chairs the process and Lawyer Nikolai Juchkov represents Tanaev at it.
