BISHKEK. A TV journalist Samagan Orozaliev who was sentenced to nine years in jail by the Jalalabad regional court in May 2000, was released on the eve of the New Year. In his interview to a RFERL correspondent today, he said that the Aksuu district court in the Yssykkul region released him from jail because his health is getting worse. 'It is very possible that the managers of the jail did not want to be responsible for my life,' said Orozaliev. He was a special correspondent for the Kyrgyz State TV and Radio Corporation in the Osh and Jalalabad regions. The Jalalabad regional court found him guilty of blackmailing the local officials. He denied the charges.
