Bishkek. President Askar Akayev will not participate at the informal Kyiv summit of the CIS leaders scheduled for January 28-29. Prime Minister Nikolay Tanayev will represent him at the meeting. Erkin Mamkulov, a head of the CIS countries department of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, told journalists today that Akayev won't go to the summit on the eve of the crucial constitutional referendum. The CIS leaders will discuss problems of free economic areas, cooperation in energy industry, transportation and security.
