BISHKEK. Kyrgyzstan did not change its policy on resolving the Iraq crisis. Bishkek urges all the sides to resolve the problem by diplomatic means. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister, Askar Aitmatov told journalists today that Kyrgyzstan shares the stand of several countries, including some members of the UN Security Council. However, it is hard to expect any illusion from the Baghdad regime, Aitmatov said.
Meanwhile, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has sent a letter to the State Commission For Religious Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, urging it to find an alternate way of travel for Kyrgyz Muslims heading to Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) from Kyrgyzstan to Saudi Arabia, bypassing Iraq.
