US Congress Allocates 40 Million Dollars Credit To Kyrgyzstan In 2004

BISHKEK. The US Congress decided to allocate about $40,000,000 to Kyrgyzstan in 2004. A chairman of the Committee for tourism and sport, deputy of the Legislative Assembly (lower chamber) of the Kyrgyz parliament Aidarbek Kerimkulov, told journalists today that he received the information during his recent trip to the USA. The aim of the financial support is to strengthen the democratic institutions in the country.
In the meantime, some opposition members criticize the Western countries. As they put it, the West is playing a double-faced game with the Kyrgyz government.
Meanwhile, the European Parliament is discussing Central Asian human rights issues. Representatives of the both Kyrgyz government and opposition have arrived in Strasbourg to attend the parliament session.
