OSH. Prime Minister Nikolai Tanayev today met with the residents of the Barak village of the Karasuu district in the Osh region. The village is situated inside of Uzbekistan. The enclave's residents complained the prime minister about their poor living conditions and shortcomings with their movement from their village to Kyrgyzstan through the Uzbek border and custom posts. The village representatives organized a picket in front of the Osh region administration's office yesterday demanding resolution of their social problems.
Tanayev promised the villagers that he will discuss the issue with the Uzbek authorities within ten days. There are two options: either to open a free corridor for them or to move the residents of the village to another place.
Many Kyrgyz-Uzbek border issues still remain unresolved. Recently, there was another incident in the Kadamjai district of the Batken region involved the Uzbek border guards.
