BISHKEK. The Public Headquarters For Monitoring Referendum intends to appeal to the Constitutional court over the adoption of the new version of the Kyrgyz constitution. The leader of the headquarters, lawmaker Omurbek Tekebaev told RFE/RL today that the adoption of the new version of the Constitution is against the main Law. No 96 clause of the Constitution which says that it is possible only to make amendments and changes to the Main Law. However, the referendum held on February 2, this year, adopted the new version of the Constitution. Now Headquarters intends to appeal also to the Commission in Venice asking it to investigate whether the move in Kyrgyzstan was illegal or not, Tekebaev said.
