BISHKEK. Several nongovernmental organizations are planning to hold a gathering in protest of possible war against Iraq in the Kyrgyz capital tomorrow. Among the organizers is the Association of Non-Commercial and Non-Government Organizations, led by Toktaiym Umetalieva. She said that the demonstration, entitled "Without War. For Peace", is expected to draw about 500 people. The protesters will demand resolution of all the issues related to Iraq only by peaceful means.
The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry recently distributed a statement backing the stance of France, Germany and Russia on the peaceful resolution of the Iraqi crisis.
