BISHKEK. An opposition bloc entitled "the Movement For Resignation Of President Akayev And For Reforms In the People's Interests", today decided to hold the second session of the Kyrgyzstan People's Third Congress (Kurultai) in July. It will be held in the Myrzake village of the Uzgen district in the Osh region. The bloc established an organizing committee to prepare the session. Opposition lawmakers Bektur Asanov and Duishen Chotonov, human rights campaigner Tursunbek Akun, and the former ambassador to the United Arabic Emirates, film director Bolot Shamshiev, are among the members of the organizing committee.
One of the main topics to be discussed will be the current political situation after the 2nd February referendum, Azimbek Beknazarov, the leader of the movement told RFE/RL today.
About 11 political parties, 4 NGOs and some independent politicians are the members of the opposition movement.
