The Legislative Assembly, lower chamber of parliament, has not yet taken decision on current situation in the southern regions, discussing the issue since 10 November. First Vice Prime Minister Kurmanbek Osmonov and Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Sulaiman Imanbaev took part in the session on 12 November. Some deputies say the parliament should not be involved in the issue and the government and the CEC only must deal with it.
The Osh City court barred candidate Usen Sydykov from a run-off election to parliament, set for 2 November, and the CEC postponed the run-off. Sydykov took about 46 percent of votes in the first round on 20 October. CEC postponed the run-off in the other constituency too. Supporters of Sydykov held protest meetings since 22 October saying the court decision was politically motivated.
