Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov of Russia met in the resort town of Cholpon-Ata on the shores of the Issyk-Kul Lake with President Askar Akayev on 14 November. According to the presidential press service, Akayev and Gryzlov discussed aspects of joint efforts against organized crime, drug trafficking, illegal migration, as well as training of cadres and technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Gryzlov arrived in Kyrgyzstan on 13 November and the same day, he and his Kyrgyz counterpart Bakirdin Subanbekov signed in Bishkek a memorandum on joint fight against terrorism and organized crime. Gryzlov left Kyrgyzstan for Tajikistan on 14 November.
