BISHKEK. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Askar Aitmatov is to visit China in Dec 10-16, 2002. According to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry's press service, during his visit Aitmatov will meet with China's Vice Premier of State Council Wen Jiabao, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tang Jiaxuan and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Guangsheng Shi and other officials. The sides will discuss issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation between two countries, deepening trade and economic ties. They also will sign a bilateral agreement on fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister also will visit Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which borders Kyrgyzstan.
China and the Kyrgyz Republic established diplomatic relations on January 5, 1992.
