BISHKEK. Kyrgyzstan Foreign Ministry today made a public statement on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border agreement signed and ratified by Kyrgyzstan. Ministry criticized the opposition Movement For Resignation of Askar Akayev and For Reforms in the Interests of People which demanded to include an issue of Uzengu-Kuush, a place at the Kyrgyz-Chinese border area, to an agenda of the forthcoming referendum. Opposition considers that a part of the mountainous valley was unlawfully ceded to China. The Ministry's statement says the Kyrgyz-Chinese border agreement was adopted in accordance with the Kyrgyz Constitution and other laws on the state border and international agreements. The Foreign Ministry urged the opposition movement to reconsider its demands on the issue.
