BISHKEK. Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev today went on live TV broadcasting answers to questions of representatives of the different regions. He emphasized main events of this year, such as the Aksy shootings in March 17-18, his visit to U.S. in September, the Global Mountain Summit in Bishkek in October, and the adoption of the special resolution on the 2200th anniversary of the Ancient Kyrgyz Statehood by the UN?s General Assembly in December, etc., during the TV session. He praised an output of the Donors? consultative meeting, which promised to give more loan to Kyrgyzstan than it was expected.
It is his custom to hold such a TV shows in the eve of the New Year. The representatives of the remote Batken region were invited to the southern capital city of Osh to question the President on their issues. As the local experts say, the show has some similarities with the recent Russian President's question-and-answer session on Dec 19, 2002. A lot of Kyrgyzstanis sent in questions to the presidential press service before the broadcast.
