Constitutional Court To Consider the Kyrgyz-Chinese Border Agreement.

BISHKEK. The Kyrgyz Constitutional Court might start hearings on the application by the 11 MPs of the Legislative Assembly (lower chamber) of the Kyrgyz parliament on legality of the Kyrgyz-Chinese border agreements on January 15, of next year. According to MP Azimbek Beknazarov, the Constitutional court's material on the issue was delivered today to the opposition MPs. On May 16, 2002, the 11 deputies applied to the Constitutional court to overturn the Kyrgyz-Chinese Border agreement, saying that the agreement was signed in violation of some clauses of the Kyrgyz Constitution. The signatories asked three colleagues, deputies A.Beknazarov, I.Kadyrbekov and I.Isakov, to represent the group at the forthcoming hearings. The Government officials praised the agreement as a diplomatic victory of Kyrgyzstan.
