Kyrgyz-Tajik Inter-Governmental Meeting Starts In Isfara


BISHKEK. Kyrgyz governmental delegation led by deputy prime minister Bazarbai Mambetov, started today talks with the Tajik counterparts led by the Tajikistan Security Council's Secretary, Amirkul Azimov, in the Tajik town of Isfara. The sides are discussing problems of the border and customs issues. The border posts in the disputed border areas were recently removed by consent of the both sides. Tomorrow the sides will continue their talks.
Meanwhile, today's Government meeting discussed the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border issues behind closed doors. The Government members agreed to address the issue by resolving every issues in accordance with the interests of both sides. On January 7, 2003, the Uzbek side unilaterally dismantled its part of the main bridge in the Karasuu town of Kyrgyzstan at the border with Uzbekistan. Now residents of Ferghana valley divided into two neighboring countries, are going from the town to a border post 'Yntymak' (Concord) about 45 km far away.
