BISHKEK. An office of the Kyrgyz Ombudsman was officially opened in Bishkek today. President Askar Akayev, Prime Minister Nikolai Tanayev, the head of the OSCE' Bishkek office, Aydin Idil and representatives of several international organizations and NGOs attended the ceremony. The Kyrgyz Ombudsman, Tursunbai Bakir-uulu was elected to this newly established position last November. The Kyrgyz parliament will elect his three deputies next month. Among the candidates are lawmakers Oksana Malevannaya and Turdubek Chekiev.
