BISHKEK. Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev offered condolences today for the loss of the US space shuttle Columbia and its crew members. Presidential press service told journalists that the President today sent a telegram to the U.S. President George W. Bush offering his condolence over the catastrophe which brought the death of seven astronauts. He wrote that these people will be remembered for sacrificing their lives for research in space.
The Columbia disintegrated over the US state of Texas yesterday minutes before it was to land, killing all crew members, including Israel's first astronaut and the first Indian-born woman in space.
