BISHKEK. Lawmaker, and the leader of the 'Asaba' (Flag) National Revival Party Azimbek Beknazarov, told RFE/RL today that preparations for organizing the Third Kurultai (meeting) of Kyrgyzstanis are continuing. However, the gathering will not be on March 17, but a little bit later. On that particular day, the Kyrgyz opposition will organize a remembrance day for those five peaceful protesters shot dead by police during their anti-government protest action on March 17-18, of last year. The ceremonies will be held in the village Bospiek of the Aksy district in the Jalalabad region.
Organizers of the Third gathering of the opposition movements say that an exact place of the kurultai will be announced in the near future. Its first stage was held in Bishkek on January 25. The Kyrgyz authorities did not permit them to organize the gathering last November.
