Constitutional Court Finishes Hearing Of Both Sides Over Disputed Ratification Of Kyrgyz-Chinese Border Agreement


BISHKEK. Kyrgyz Constitutional Court today continued a hearing on the disputed ratification of the Kyrgyz-Chinese border agreements. First deputy prime minister Kurmanbek Osmonov, foreign minister Askar Aitmatov, head of justice department of the presidential administration Anarbek Ismailov and deputy of the People's Representative Assembly Kydykbek Isaev wrapped-up their statements in support of the agreements. They asked the court to overturn the plaintiffs appeal to define the ratification procedures as unconstitutional. Aitmatov accused the plaintiffs of playing politics and trying to cause public unrest. The opposition lawmakers told RFE/RL that they will wait for the court's verdict before issuing any statement. Today some supporters of the opposition lawmakers picketed the premises of the constitutional court demanding a just verdict on the issue.
