IMF Mission Arrives In Bishkek


BISHKEK. A Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Tapio Saavalainen, arrived in Bishkek today. The IMF experts will meet with the Kyrgyz officials and assess the results of carrying out the Third tranche of the current program for the elimination of poverty and economic development of Kyrgyzstan.
The mission will evaluate the problems of macroeconomic reforms in the country together with the finance ministry. The Executive Council of the IMF decided to allocate about $100 million loan to Kyrgyzstan by 2004 for the purposes of fighting poverty and helping in economic reforms. The IMF mission controls the processes of carrying out of the program twice a year.
