Parliament's Upper Chamber Ends Its Special Session


BISHKEK. The People's Representative Assembly (upper chamber) of the Kyrgyz parliament ended its special 15th session today. The Kyrgyz lawmakers debated on the Bishkek mayor's report on the capital city's current economic development. Some deputies proposed preparing a draft law on a special statute of the capital. Lawmaker Muratbek Mukashev suggested to change the structure of the city administration, renaming the four districts (Lenin, Birinchi Mai, Oktiabr and Sverdlov) and changing a district ("raion" in Russian) to a prefecture.
During the three-day special session, the lawmakers adopted the law on real estate taxation in the urban and resort areas and two decrees on reports, one by the Minister of agriculture, water and refinery industry, Aleksandr Kostiuk, and the other by Bishkek mayor, Medetbek Kerimkulov.
