Bishkek, April 26. Kyrgyzstanis held a commemoration meeting devoted to the 17th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power station disaster. Bishkek mayor, Medetbek Kerimkulov, representatives of the Ukrainian embassy to Bishkek, Kyrgyz citizens participated in the works in Chernobyl after the disaster, and environment protection campaigners were among those gathered. About 2300 Kyrgyz citizens contributed to the environmental works after the disaster occurred on April 26, 1986 in Chernobyl, Ukraine. The advisor to Ukrainian Ambassador Vladimir Solovei told gathering that the Chernobyl accident was a big disaster for the whole world. Some participants of the Chernobyl works complained about poor social conditions for them.
