Bishkek office of the UN Development Program (UNDP) held a seminar in Bishkek on 13 November on role and responsibilities of ombudsman. Head of the OSCE office in Bishkek Christian Knust, representatives of the UNDP's regional center in Bratislava Sergei Sirotkin and Tomas Anusevic, deputies of Kyrgyz parliament Oksana Malevanaya, Tursunbai Bakir Uulu, Marat Sultanov, Omurbek Tekebaev, other experts discussed status of ombudsman in Kyrgyzstan, principles of his work and procedures of his election. According to a law passed earlier this year, first ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan should be elected up to the end of 2002.
