According to the recent independent poll in Kyrgyzstan, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (Radio Azattyk in Kyrgyz) is the third popular radio station among the Kyrgyzstan residents. Head of the independent vox-populi center in Bishkek Professor Elmira Elebesova told RFE/RL correspondent on 14 November that the poll was conducted early in November in every region of the country and about 1,200 people on the streets took part in it total.
Twenty-four radio stations were in the list and the Europe Plus and Kyrgyzstan Obondoru (Kyrgyz Melodies) stations were found the most popular ones. They are music stations mostly. People also named the most popular TV stations in Kyrgyzstan. The first three places among 19 stations were occupied by the ORT (Russia), KTR (Kyrgyz State TV) and RTR (Russia) networks.
