Controversial Clause Removed from Version of Constitution

BISHKEK. The head of the Experts Group, Cholponkul Arabayev said the clause on the president's absolute vetoing right was removed from the new version of the constitution and a new clause was added that allows to return vetoed laws to president after three fourth of deputies support the move.
According to Arabayev, also the clause, which stipulates that everybody from president to ordinary citizens have a right to appeal to the Constitutional Court, has been restored. Arabayev, whose Experts Group have drafted the new amendments, made a statement today. The previous day the Legislative Assembly of the parliament discussed the controversial issues of the draft, but was not able to reach any decision.
